About US

Wearside Masonic Temple is a fantastic suite of function rooms within the Temple Chambers building, right in the heart of Sunderland.

Wearside Masonic Temple is the home of Freemasonry in the city centre. Our facilities are not just for Freemasons, however! Our function rooms are available to hire and are suitable for a wide range of events and activities. In fact, we are one of the best kept secrets in Sunderland. If you are planning a party or hosting a conference, why not consider Wearside Masonic Temple.

Are you interested in becoming a Freemason? Do you know somebody who is?

Do you place value in the virtues of integrity, kindness, honesty, fairness and tolerance? Do you believe that a man's word is his bond? Do you strive to be the best version of yourself that you can be? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you should consider becoming a Freemason.

Rather than working on buildings like the masons of old, today’s Freemasons focus on building themselves as people of integrity, and membership provides the structure to help achieve that goal.

One of the oldest social organisations in the world, Freemasonry is not defined by an ideology. It is open to people from all religions and political persuasions and provides the common foundation for friendships between members, many of which will last for life.

With a membership of more than 150,000 people drawn from communities across the UK, Freemasonry brings people together irrespective of their race, religion or any other perceived differences that can divide us as a society.

Whether participating in events, fundraising for a charitable cause or volunteering for public or community organisations, service is at the very heart of Freemasonry. Our members make valuable contributions by donating time, resources and skills.

We are located on the intersection of Burdon Road and Park Road in Sunderland city centre. On-street parking is available on Douro Terrace and at the Gorse Road car park, which is 200 yards away. Bus, taxi and Tyne and Wear Metro transport is available at Park Land Interchange, which is a five minute walk away.
